So you’ve started eating better, making time for some sort of exercise — maybe you’re even doing some mindful meditation as a way to improve your mental well-being. But what about being kind to yourself? Sure, extending kindness to others and cutting them some slack can be easy. But cultivating that same kind of compassion for ourselves? Not so much.

Practicing self-kindness, recognition of our humanity, and mindfulness gives us the strength to thrive. So your challenge this week is to practice self-love and self-compassion. Spend this week doing acts that allow you to appreciate yourself, reflect and grow.

You might be asking yourself, “How the heck am I supposed to do that?!”. Well, there are lots of ways to do this, just choose one each day. To get you started, here’s an extensive list of things you can do to bring this practice to life this week: 

  1. Floss

  2. List 3 things you appreciate about yourself 

  3. Spend some time outdoors, electronics free 

  4. Say “no” to something you don’t want to do

  5. Do one thing that scares you 

  6. Color

  7. Watch a funny video. Laugh and allow yourself to recharge

  8. Play hooky - take the day off 

  9. Book yourself an indulgent appointment 

  10. Reconnect with an old friend

  11. Organize a small area of your home 

  12. Write a letter to yourself 

  13. Take a nap 

  14. Make your favorite meal/ snack/ dessert 

  15. Get up to watch the sunrise 

  16. Plan a trip 

  17. Take a bath 

  18. Meditate 

  19. Listen to an uplifting song - don’t multitask. Really listen to the words. 

  20. Look in the mirror and compliment yourself.

  22. Get a haircut 

  23. Take the scenic route 

  24. Take a break from social media 

  25. Take yourself out on a date
